I wait for you in long, dark days,
In silent places far from crowds.
I wait for love’s most tender words,
For glances with your love so full.
I wait, and do not force myself
On hearts that are not ready yet.
I wait until that day you come
And we will then be one at last.
Come down, come down, Lord Jesus,
And feed your hungry sheep.
Come down, come down, oh Father,
Bring water from the deep.
Come down, oh Holy Spirit,
Refresh our weary souls.
Come down to earth,
And give new birth,
Let sin and sadness
Transform to gladness.
Cast doubt and fear
Away from here.
Let dark deeds die
And hatred lie
Lifeless
And defeated.
Lift up our souls
And take control.
Forgive our sins;
Bring life within.
Let parch-ed tongues
Your wine imbibe —
Refreshing pools
Bring on the cool
Of souls made bright
Within Your light.

I do not speak your language;
I only speak in rhymes.
Perhaps I’m from another world,
Or from another time.
Perhaps I am an alien,
Or my brain is wired wrong.
I cannot speak too plainly,
I’d rather sing a song.
I’m from another universe,
Or country far away.
Struggling bravely to converse —
Withhold what I could say.
I’m singing songs to Jesus;
I’m praying in my mind.
My eyes are turned to heaven,
That country so sublime.
So please be patient with me;
I need to learn to see
Reality, and firmly be
Both here and heaven bound.
When your candle’s barely burning,
When your breath is just a sigh,
Step out into the darkness —
Lift your prayer to God on high.
Remember how He loves you
Amidst your fear and sin;
Remember how He died for you
And did the victory win.
He’ll carry you in darkness,
He’ll comfort you in grief.
He’ll give you all you ever need
If you’ll just trust in Him.
And if you don’t feel trusting,
If doubt and fear creep in,
Just let it go, give Him control,
Just give it all to Him.
Can you hear Jesus?
His voice so gently calls.
I hear Him in the crashing waves,
In clear, bright mornings,
In darker days.
Can you hear Jesus calling?
He wants to own your heart.
Can you hear Him in the wind?
The fresh, cool breeze?
The Voice within?
Can I hear Jesus speaking?
Or is my heart too deaf?
Will I turn away from Him,
Let call grow dim, or
Let Him wash away my sin?
Can we hear Jesus speaking?
And let us meet one day,
On other side,
Without our pride —
He patiently abides.
Feeling alone
And forlorn.
There’s nobody home.
Must keep on track,
Have you got my back?
Help me, Lord.
I know I’ll get through this,
With God I can do this,
But it takes so long.
You’re changing me daily;
I’m feeling so fraily.
My God is my strength.
Look beyond what eyes can see.
Look beyond the bounds of time.
Look forward to eternity —
What will be your destiny?
Gently He is calling you;
Gently calls you by your name.
Will you listen to His call?
Will you give Him all your all?
What is the beauty in a flower?
What draws me to its fragrant bliss?
All I can think, and only this —
It praises Father every hour.
Why do the mountains call to me?
Why so majestic, bold, and grand?
They often tell me of His plan,
His might and power, His purpose grand.
Why does the ocean call to me?
Why crashing waves do beckon still?
Only because my Savior’s voice
Is hidden in their mighty power.
Why do I till and dig the earth?
Now planting seeds that will give birth?
Because the seed that once seemed dead
Will bring new life upon the earth.
Now every day He speaks to me
In seed and flower, in meadows bright.
Though blind and deaf I tend to be
His light and love will make me right.
When dreams are dead
Men lose their heart,
And, like dead men,
They fall apart.
Inside, unseen,
Their souls like stone,
Bear calloused wounds,
Exist forlorn.
Let not dreams die —
Still deep inside,
Quench not the fire
Of hope alive.
Let Love somehow
Heal deepest wounds.
Let Jesus’ love
Break open tombs!
Then shout, and sing,
Our voices raise!

In humble praise!

Our Purpose in Life?
In recent years, I believe my purpose is to show the love of Jesus to others. And yet, lately I thought, “If I’m lying unconscious in a hospital bed, how do I show the love of Jesus to others?” Perhaps sometimes, our purpose is to receive the love of Jesus or let others love us.
I really believe each person is loved by God and was put on earth for a purpose. “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) A blind, deaf, and dumb person may have a purpose — perhaps he or she is used by God to teach others compassion.
I would love to hear people’s thoughts on this.
