The Reason I Garden

I have a passion for plants and gardening. Perhaps this video will explain why:

Please pray for the boy in the video.

Prayer for a Broken Heart

The heart breaks
And cracked spirit
Takes long to mend
But it’s not the end

The heart grows stronger
And it takes longer
For harsh realities
To do their damage

Somehow flowers
Bloom again —
A seed is planted
Through tears and pain

Amen

If Your Heart is Broken …

001y

If your heart is broken,
Be glad you have a heart.

If you’re crying,
Be glad that you loved enough to be hurt.

If the world seems to pass you by,
If you feel alone,
God is with you.

When All Seems Dark

When all seems dark,
When evil seems to reign,
Take up your cross,
And look at Christ again.

When clouds oppress,
And gather in a storm,
Yield all to Christ,
And let His Spirit form.

Forget the strife,
And let Him calm the storm.
Let Him give life;
To Him your thoughts conform.

Movin’ On

The room’s still a mess,
The world’s in distress,
Bills haven’t been paid,
There’s no sun, just shade.

But I’m movin’ on, movin’ on.

Sometimes feel depressed,
And maybe too stressed,
Feel like I can’t get a grip,
And the news gives me fits.

But I’m movin’ on, movin’ on.

I’m finding new joy,
I don’t need a new toy.
I’m letting it slide,
Going to take a joy ride.

And I’m movin’ on, movin’ on.

Gotta choose to feel good;
Can’t always do what you “should”.
Make the best of this life,
Let go of the strife.

And I’m movin’ on, movin’ on.

Let others go argue
Tryin’ to prove that they’re right.
Prayin’ to accept it all —
Letting go’s the best fight.

Let’s get movin’ on, movin’ on.

Can’t let the world kill you,
Demands all around — still you
Do what you can, and just
Keep movin’ on, movin’ on.

Don’t Throw It All Away

Don’t throw it all away …
So you’ve messed up,
You’ve screwed up —
Keep your head up.

Don’t throw it all away …
In your anger, in your pride,
Don’t allow the pain inside
The truth to override.

Don’t throw it all away …
Life’s too precious,
Infectious;
God’s perfecting us.

Don’t throw it all away …
God still loves you,
He’ll protect you;
Don’t listen to what others say.

The backbiters,
The infighters,
The naysayers,
The faith slayers.

Don’t listen to the “no” sayers.

It’s not up to them or you.
Surely God’s word is true.
Don’t believe lies
And don’t compromise.

The fact that He loves you,
The truth that He died for you,
His heart surely burns for you,
You must let Him live in you.

Blest are the Broken (Matthew 5:4)

Blest are the broken,
Shattered and torn,
Those who are weeping,
Those who now mourn.

In our deep sorrow
God is so near.
He walks beside us —
We need not fear.

From broken pieces
He now creates
Mosaic of His beauty —
Majesty great.

Be not ashamed now
Of broken heart.
Know that He loves you
And make a new start.

Walking on Water

Go out onto the water;
Yes, take the first brave step.
No doubt cause you to falter,
Nor look in water’s depth.

Climb up onto the summit;
Go forth one step each time.
Fear not, and you’ll not plummet —
The view will be sublime.

Reach out to many hurting,
One person at a time.
Though you don’t feel worthy,
God’s love from you must shine.

Go forth into the darkness,
Though you do not know the way.
There’s death and there is starkness,
But His light will be your stay.

Keep on, though you are weary;
Make your eyes look up above.
Your goal, which is God’s heaven
Will heal your heart with love.

This Ship I Travel

This ship I travel, on treach’rous sea
I often wished that I could flee

I did not choose this ship of life —
Of sin, of sorrow; sadness, strife

I felt alone, though many traveled;
In darkest ignorance my life unraveled

But now and then a Light would shine
And slowly came the gift divine

I am not here for self alone
My purpose through the darkness shone

And as this ship sails on or stalls
With others do I meet life’s squalls

And I have met an Unseen Friend;
His Presence here do not contend

And if I may but save one soul
From falling, jumping in the sea

My soul will thrill, my heart will sing
‘Tis purpose done; ’tis destiny

The Twelve Steps Of Idiots Anonymous

Just in case people are not aware of the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, (for example, see
http://www.silkworth.net/aa/12steps.html ), this is a parody of that. I recently “joined” Idiots Anonymous, due to my mistakes regarding God’s love for me.

1) We admitted we were powerless over our blindness to God’s love — that our lives had become unmanageable.
2) Came to believe that His love could restore our sight.
3) Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4) Made a searching and fearless inventory of our blind spots.
5) Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our unbelief.
6) Were entirely ready to have God remove all the aspects of our blindness.
7) Humbly asked Him to remove our blindness.
8) Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9) Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10) Continued to take inventory, and when we were blind or myopic, asked God for the grace to confess it.
11) Sought, through prayer and meditating on God’s word, to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12) Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to everyone we know, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
