A Different Path

This life is one of tears and pain;
We once get up, and fall again.
Evil, sin, seep through the cracks;
The heart of man — God’s peace it lacks.

And yet, with patient, open arms,
Our Savior calls us from all harm.
A different path He offers us —
Of peace, of joy, of deep’ning trust.

When evil grows, when peace is shattered,
Cling to the cross; His Love’s what matters.
Have patience, and with growing faith,
Let God be guide to glorious fate.

I Do Not Speak Your Language

[Not sure if this poem reflects my spiritual or psychological state – maybe both 🙂 ]

I do not speak your language;
I only speak in rhymes.
Perhaps I’m from another world,
Or from another time.

Perhaps I am an alien,
Or my brain is wired wrong.
I cannot speak too plainly,
I’d rather sing a song.

I’m from another universe,
Or country far away.
Struggling bravely to converse —
Withhold what I could say.

I’m singing songs to Jesus;
I’m praying in my mind.
My eyes are turned to heaven,
That country so sublime.

So please be patient with me;
I need to learn to see
Reality, and firmly be
Both here and heaven bound.

A Different Road

So happy for you
That you’ve found your way,
But while I’m still waiting,
I hope that you can say,
“Take courage, be strong.
It may be short, it may be long.
Don’t lose heart, make a new start
Every day.”

While you smile in triumph
Don’t forget the ones
Who still have a long way to go.
They got late to the show;
They didn’t know the things you knew
When you were young.

For some, one step
Takes tremendous strength,
While you have already run the race,
Or you’re near the end.
Of course, it takes grace.

Don’t let me wallow in self-pity.
My gifts may be different than yours,
But still God-given.
Please just recognize
That to win the prize
It’s a different road for each person.

But I must thank you
For who you are.
Although it’s painful to see
Someone who’s always ahead of me,
How else could I grow?
Thanks for taking the time
To share your wisdom sublime.
