What Are You Made For?

What are you made for?
Is it crying and tears,
For nightmares and fears?

What are you made for?
For feeling alone,
For being forlorn?

Does your soul long for more?
Do you stare at the door,
Wondering when it will open?

Are you longing for love?
Do you look up above,
Or mostly in all the wrong places?

Be still and just listen,
Receive what you’re missing.
He’ll fill you up if you let Him.

Have You Got My Back?

Feeling alone
And forlorn.
There’s nobody home.

Must keep on track,
Have you got my back?
Help me, Lord.

I know I’ll get through this,
With God I can do this,
But it takes so long.

You’re changing me daily;
I’m feeling so fraily.
My God is my strength.

In Wretched Stable

Light in the darkness,
Peace in the storm;
In wretched stable
Our Savior was born.

Forgiveness for sinners,
Hope for the lost;
Hatred now broken —
At unmeasured cost.

Love brought to sinners,
The ugly made whole;
To broken and battered
He shows heaven’s door.

Friend to unlovely,
Lost and forlorn —
Caught in sin’s prison,
The fetters are torn.

Come, all you people
Sing now His praise.
The One who will save us
Is Jesus by name.

Let Not Dreams Die

When dreams are dead
Men lose their heart,
And, like dead men,
They fall apart.

Inside, unseen,
Their souls like stone,
Bear calloused wounds,
Exist forlorn.

Let not dreams die —
Still deep inside,
Quench not the fire
Of hope alive.

Let Love somehow
Heal deepest wounds.
Let Jesus’ love
Break open tombs!

Then shout, and sing,
Our voices raise!
Hosannahs bring
In humble praise!
