The Reason I Garden

I have a passion for plants and gardening. Perhaps this video will explain why:

Please pray for the boy in the video.

Longing for God’s Love

I seek in the silence
A word from You,
The key to my existence.

For once,
There are no voices around me.

I try to listen …

I beat against the doors
Of Your heart —
Will You let me in?

Or perhaps it’s the other way —
Will I let You in?

I seek for Your answer,
I wait for Your voice,
I hope for Your love.

I struggle and strain
To find You, to know You;
It will not be in vain.

Prayer for a Broken Heart

The heart breaks
And cracked spirit
Takes long to mend
But it’s not the end

The heart grows stronger
And it takes longer
For harsh realities
To do their damage

Somehow flowers
Bloom again —
A seed is planted
Through tears and pain

Amen

Morning Begins Again

MORNING BEGINS AGAIN

Morning begins again —
Fresh breeze upon my skin,
The promise of new things,
The hummingbird on wing.

The slate, it still is blank.
I pray, and yes, give thanks
For new beginnings,
For hearts now turning,
For all my yearnings.

The mourning dove, it coos.
I pray that I won’t lose
My hope, my faith, my patience here —
Nor let dread problems
Bring on fear.

So let our souls be light
Like angels, now take flight.
Give all to God
Though thoughts may prod —
The day comes after night.

Even if …

Even if you don’t perceive it, God is working. Even if you don’t feel it, God is working. Just because we have limited perception, doesn’t mean that God isn’t working. You can trust Him. You can believe Him. You can hope in Him. You are part of His plan, and “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.” (Philippians 1:6) Keep on hoping.

When All Seems Dark

When all seems dark,
When evil seems to reign,
Take up your cross,
And look at Christ again.

When clouds oppress,
And gather in a storm,
Yield all to Christ,
And let His Spirit form.

Forget the strife,
And let Him calm the storm.
Let Him give life;
To Him your thoughts conform.

Don’t Throw It All Away

Don’t throw it all away …
So you’ve messed up,
You’ve screwed up —
Keep your head up.

Don’t throw it all away …
In your anger, in your pride,
Don’t allow the pain inside
The truth to override.

Don’t throw it all away …
Life’s too precious,
Infectious;
God’s perfecting us.

Don’t throw it all away …
God still loves you,
He’ll protect you;
Don’t listen to what others say.

The backbiters,
The infighters,
The naysayers,
The faith slayers.

Don’t listen to the “no” sayers.

It’s not up to them or you.
Surely God’s word is true.
Don’t believe lies
And don’t compromise.

The fact that He loves you,
The truth that He died for you,
His heart surely burns for you,
You must let Him live in you.

Healing Rain

Rush of the rain,
In waves and showers.
Thirsty the earth,
Now will come flowers.

Like Holy Spirit
Comes the rain.
Watering soul
And life again.

Dry was the earth
And hard as iron.
Dead was my soul
‘Til caught on fire.

Spirit of God
Will now break forth.
Like little seedling,
Life brings hope.

Someday

Someday I’ll walk in heav’nly lands,
By crashing waves and sunlit sands,
Shall walk beneath an azure sky,
On grassy hills and meadows lie.

No more will furrows cross my brow,
No more my worries back to bow,
No more to let my peace be stirred,
By frowning face or angry word.

Then will I let God’s love enfold,
Will tell His story bright and bold,
Will shine forth with His glorious light,
My weakness showing forth His might.

My Wish for You

Joy in your sorrow,
hugs in your pain,
hope for tomorrow,
beginning again.
