In Dust and Rain
You lifted me up, for a while.
I flew like a butterfly on weightless wings,
But I had to come down to earth.
I am a worm now, crawling in the mud.
But worms make way for growing things,
For trees, and flowers, and birds that sing.
It’s all the same,
In dust and rain,
In joy or pain.
Love has to hurt —
So life gives birth,
And pain gives way to joy.
Perspectives
So painful when we misunderstand each other.
Different ways of seeing things;
We grew up in different worlds.
I’d like to listen to your pain,
But it hurts too much
To add another pain to my own.
Education helps –
Exposed to different perspectives.
But can I keep my identity
And still cherish yours?
——————-
I used to think that
When we disagreed,
You didn’t love me.
——————–
Are you a liberal or conservative?
I’ve decided that I’m a libative.

There is One who knows all our pain —
Yours and mine –
But do we know His?
There’s a Reason
There’s a reason for your suffering,
A purpose for your pain.
God’s forging new beginnings;
Your hurt is not in vain.
You may be in confusion,
Be tempted by despair,
But if you’ll keep on trusting,
No comfort can compare.
Your life is God’s creation;
His plan, it has no flaw.
And when His work is over,
You’ll stand in humble awe.
Remember you are clay now,
Or liquid metal made.
Each person finely crafted,
A creature now remade.
Prayer for a Broken Heart
The heart breaks
And cracked spirit
Takes long to mend
But it’s not the end
The heart grows stronger
And it takes longer
For harsh realities
To do their damage
Somehow flowers
Bloom again —
A seed is planted
Through tears and pain
Amen
First Anniversary
Today is the 1st anniversary of what I call my “Kidney Stone Miracle”. Because of going to emergency for kidney stone pain, the doctors also discovered a cancerous tumor in the other (left) kidney. A month later, they removed it and I’m doing well today. Thank you, God, for another year of life!
The surgeon later told me that “You shouldn’t have had that much trouble passing that stone; it wasn’t that big.” But because of the pain, they found the cancer, so thank God.
Often our suffering can have a good result. We don’t always see the result, but in trusting God it can bear good fruit.

I’m Dancin’ Again
I’m dancin’ again!
Through the pain,
And through the tears,
I’m dancin’ again.
Because the dead are raised to life,
And peace will come through fearful strife,
Because the wrong will come to right —
I’m dancin’ again.
Because my heart,
Though so confused,
Is slowly, gently being infused
With grace, and truth, and light.
Because the pain is for my good,
Because He’s always understood,
Because with God I really could —
Learn to dance again.
Because the cross will cure my sin,
Because He’ll bring me peace within,
The peace that silences the din —
I’ll dance again!
Confession
The wound of sin
Festers within,
Until God’s light
Can make it right.
Why try to hide
The pain inside?
The healing comes
When brought to light.
My Wish for You
Joy in your sorrow,
hugs in your pain,
hope for tomorrow,
beginning again.
