Let Not Dreams Die

When dreams are dead
Men lose their heart,
And, like dead men,
They fall apart.

Inside, unseen,
Their souls like stone,
Bear calloused wounds,
Exist forlorn.

Let not dreams die —
Still deep inside,
Quench not the fire
Of hope alive.

Let Love somehow
Heal deepest wounds.
Let Jesus’ love
Break open tombs!

Then shout, and sing,
Our voices raise!
Hosannahs bring
In humble praise!

I Need Your Healing

Lord, I need Your healing
From pride, from sin,
From jealousies within.

Please cleanse this broken heart,
Let me make a new start,
Give me Your Sacred Heart.

From fear, from hate,
Wipe clean the slate —
Your love demonstrate.

Help me look up above,
Focus only on Your love,
Fly free like a dove.

Then Your healing light
Will give my soul flight.
I am whole in Your sight.

A Thousand Ways

Your Love is told a thousand ways
As steady we traverse our days.
The fact that we exist is one,
And then the Father, Spirit, Son.

Each new green leaf, each tender stalk,
Each fragrant flower, as we do walk.
A tender touch, a kindly smile,
The one who says, “Come stay a while.”

Forgiving words and peaceful pardons,
Sustaining waters, grace-filled gardens.
Creation sings; Your love song rings.
The stars, the skies, let praises rise.

Majestic mountains, roiling streams,
Icy fountains, bright sunbeams.
And darkness too, can give You glory —
More brightly shines the candle’s story.

A thousand ways let hearts explore.
Your Love still gives a thousand more.

Come Walk with Me

“Come walk with me”, the Savior said
“Leave earthly cares behind
Leave all that comes twixt you and me
The sin and worry bind”

His heart was aching with such pain
He saw men struggle, strive in vain
When in His hand He held all things
The peace, the joy, that His love brings

He said, “You must the silence keep
The quietness, the inner deep
Close every door and go inside
To you My love I will confide”

“Each day go to the inner door
And listen as I speak, and more.
My inner peace I will impart
And make a fountain in your heart”

All men will one day bow the knee
To Him who hung upon a tree
‘Till then let us be well content
In silence, a true sacrament

Endless Love

If I could only give my heart,
Tell those I love how much they mean.
And anger only shows I care;
To disagree does not mean hate.

If I could give a sunlit song
A calming balm, a hand so strong.
If I could tell each one I meet
How precious is their soul, and sweet.

One day I’ll learn to speak my mind
To honest be, and still be kind.
To let myself be hurt once more
And tell the tale of endless love.

The River of Life

Through death and birth,

Ill health and woe,

Through laughter, tears,

Through joys and fears —

The world’s still here.

It didn’t stop

To take a pause

When someone died,

When someone cried;

When someone lied,

The world went on.

Through war and peace,

Through health, disease;

Through daring feats,

And cowardly deeds —

Life still flows on.

It might be wise

To take a pause,

To look at all

The many flaws

Which unknowing —

Suffering cause.

And learn, and learn,

And finally learn,

That Love is waiting

With open arms,

When all does cease.

Creator’s Gift

CREATOR’S GIFT

Smelly clothes and dirty dishes
Don’t seem like the stuff of wishes
Cooking meals and wiping noses
Could, in time, produce neuroses

However, if you do your duty
You could find in rhythm, beauty.
The daily things you do with love
May lead your soul to realms above

The simple things, seen with new eyes
May give your heart a great surprise
When seen as the Creator’s gift
A flower, a child, a dirty dish
