Tell Me Your Story

What is in your heart?
I cannot know,
Except through long years,
And even then, my picture is incomplete.

What can we know of others?
Only by what they say and do,
But mostly by what they do.

How can I know you?
Will I ask you many questions?
Will you lie or tell the truth?

How can I live with you,
Unless we are both honest,
Although honesty can hurt.

How can I love you
Unless I know you?

How can I know you
Unless you share your heart?

How can I love you? —
Tell me your story —
That may be the start.

Help Me Love You

Jesus, help me love You,
Help me live for You each day,
Put my life into Your hands,
With faith keep fear away.

Help me see the beauty
You made for me each day.
Recognize Your glory
In things that come my way.

See You in each moment,
In the clouds and sun.
See You in disguises
That all around me come.

See Your plan so awesome,
In joy and sadness praise.
See you both in drudg’ry
And pleasant things each day.

Put my trust completely
In Your plan so great.
Let me tell Your story
So all can contemplate.

He Will Come Again

I’m waiting for that day
When He returns
In bright and shining glory.

I’ve got to tell the story
How He loved me all the time,
But I — confused in mind.

He always walked beside me,
Tried every way to guide me,
But there was no way I would see.

Couldn’t seem to grasp His story
My ears were stopped, and surely
My eyes were blinded too.

I walked in deepest darkness
Lived life in blackest starkness
My heart was frozen.

Now He leads me through the night
I look to Him for light
Like a little child.

A Ball of Yarn

There’s a ball of yarn

Inside my chest;

Something struggling to get out.

Don’t know what it is.

Sometimes I feel

Like a mute

Who can only

Make noises but not speech.

I had a voice once

And I will again.

Only time will tell,

Will tell, will tell

The story,

The mystery,

So well.
