Lima Beans

[Prompted by watching my daughter-in-law interacting with her older son
when he wasn’t eating all the food on his plate.]

Not all of life is pleasant,
Not always at our ease,
But if a portion’s on your plate —
You must eat lima beans.

Sometimes life just rolls along,
You get some sweets and treats,
But often it’s the other way —
You must eat lima beans.

[Don’t get me wrong —
Some people like them —
But usually you try to hide them ..

Under your plate,
Under the table,
Give ’em to the dog,
If you’re able.]

Not everything is pleasant;
There’s drudgery in life —
But if you sing a cheerful song,
You might find that you like ..

Lima beans —
buttered, sauteed,
With onions, or in a salad —
They just might please your palate.
